Voter Engagement

To promote voter engagement and raise awareness about the 2020 election, we painted a manhole cover outside the main polling station on the Northside of Chicago.

The colorful design was intended to mimic a "voted" button and catch the attention of people walking by, sparking conversation and curiosity about the importance of voting. By transforming an everyday, overlooked object into a work of art, we aimed to make a bold statement that voting is not only important but also accessible and integral to the fabric of our communities.

The painted cover became a visual cue, reminding individuals that their participation in the democratic process is a vital and powerful act. This was installed in the weeks leading up the Election Day and had prominent placement for the media, state leaders, and the voters.
